About

History & Background

Established in 2024, Plus Math is a free tutoring service offered by Mines students for local K-12 students around Golden and Jeffco regions. This program is supported by Mines student volunteers and our local Civil Engineering industry partners.

Our Mission

Over the last decade, the quality of Math education has deteriorated in many public schools despite the introduction of new technology and curriculums. With the current rise of AI, the situation is getting worse. 

We decided to do our part to turn this situation around for kids who want to learn math and form a solid foundation for STEM studies. We believe that:

  • In-person tutoring is better than Zoom calls or AI agent for math education
  • Working with physical pen and paper (white board also!) is a superior way to develop math understanding than watching online videos
  • It is a great experience for K-12 students to connect with College students, as well as Engineers in the STEM field. 

Plus Math is a free, open math tutoring program designed to achieve all these goals.
